Environmental Remediation and Total Demolition Overview
The Steam Electric Plant project included abatement and demolition of a steam electric station, including:
- 5 turbine generators units (ranging from 22-30 megawatts in capacity)
- 6 boilers and related structures (600 gpm)
- 3 freestanding auxiliary boilers (ranging from 190,000-675,000 pounds per hour)
- Related supporting mechanical equipment
- Concrete pedestals and slabs up to 5 feet thick
- Underground utilities and tunnels
- Approximately 250,000 square feet of building
Resources and Company Owned Equipment:
- 50 workers on site during asbestos abatement
- 8 excavators (75,000-100,000 pound class)
- Excavator attachments (grapples, shears, and 10,000 pound hydraulic hammer)
- 100-ton crane
- Wrecking ball
Approximately 8,000 tons of ferrous metals and 25,000 tons of masonry materials were recycled.
